This weekend, Level|Up Series is bringing you one of the first major fighting game tournaments for the year, Southern California Regionals 2013 (SCR). This year’s SCR will again take place at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) Student Center in Irvine, California. SoCal Regionals is also collaborating with Fighting Gamers @ UCI and Epic Gamer Productions for a second year to bring you the best possible tournament experience. If you missed the trailer for SoCal Regionals 2013, check it out below! SCR & the Road to Evo 2013SoCal Regionals 2013 is one of four tournaments in the US a part of the Road to Evo 2013. SCR is the first major 2013 event partnered with Evo and the first opportunity for players to earn seeds towards Evolution 2013. While the seed point system from the previous year is no longer present, the top 16 players for each of the Evo tournament games will be awarded seeds which will be manually assigned by Evo at the end of the season. Tournament Games Line-upThe games line-up at this year’s SCR has a quite the variety, covering most recent title releases, a classic, and the staples of the fighting game community.
Street Fighter X Tekken Ver.2013 Tournament and ExhibitionWhile the official release of Street Fighter X Tekken Ver.2013 is less than two weeks away, SoCal Regionals will be hosting an open tournament and an invitational exhibition for the upcoming update to SFXTK. The open tournament is available to spectator and player alike, with on-site registration only. The invitational will feature some of the best SFXTK players in the US along with Evo 2012 and Street Fighter 25th Anniversary champion, Infiltration:
ExhibitionsIn addition to the SFXTK exhibition, SCR has a number of exhibitions in SSFIV AE and UMvC3 planned for the weekend, including the headline exhibition, RZR|Latif vs. WW.MCZ|Infiltration. SSFIV AE exhibitions will take place on Friday while the UMvC3 exhibitions will be held Saturday. Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Exhibitions

The incredibly amusing mini-game Tekken Ball will also make a return to SCR, using the new version included in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition and with prizes provided by Namco Bandai Games. Sponsors & SupportersSoCal Regionals 2013 is partnered with a great number of sponsors and supporters. Epic Gamer Productions will again be providing casual set-ups for SCR. Namco Bandai Games will giving out $1000 and $500 bonuses for the top 8 finalists in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and SoulCalibur V, respectively, as well as prizes for the Tekken Ball. ATLUS will be providing $500 bonuses to the top 8 in KOF XIII and P4A. Peripheral make and long-time community supporter Mad Catz is also on the sponsorship list, giving out number of their arcade sticks or headsets to the 1st place finishers in all tournament games and 2nd place for Tekken Ball. Other sponsors and supporters include Capcom, HORI, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, BROKENTIER, The Game Station, eightarc, Arcade Shock, J&J Modding and Toylet.net. Streams & ScheduleSoCal Regionals 2013 will be covered by a total of four streams. Level|Up will be providing the primary stream coverage on two TwitchTV channels, LevelUpLive and LevelUpLive2. In addition two dedicated streams are planned for specific games. Epic Gamer Productions (EGP) will be hosting a dedicated stream for Mortal Kombat at http://www.twitch.tv/epicgp, while James Xie will be providing a stream for Persona 4 Arena at http://www.twitch.tv/xiei. Note that P4A finals will be streamed on the LevelUpLive 2 channel on Sunday. Chat for the Level|Up streams will only be available to subscribers to Level|Up’s TwitchTV channel. In addition to the usage of chat, a subscription will grant access to exclusive emoticons, automatic entry into monthly giveaways and the chance to win online training sessions with Alex Valle.
