Mortal Kombat Location Test Being Held at Game Ace Arcade in Japan

The Mortal Kombat series isn’t of particularly high popularity in Japan, and the latest title in the series, 2011′s Mortal Kombat from NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, never saw an official release in the country. Yet somehow MK has found itself in location test in at least one game center in Japan, Game Ace Minami Yawata in the Chiba Prefecture.

Details on the location tests are fairly scarce. The test began on August 13 is scheduled to run for approximately 1 week. The game can be found on the 3rd floor of Game Ace, playable at 50 yen per credit. At the very least, the test version includes Arcade mode and Tag Team mode.

While it’s difficult to say whether this location test will lead to some sort of actual arcade release of Mortal Kombat, nevertheless it’s interesting that Mortal Kombat is getting some exposure in Japan, even in a small scale.
