GameSpot Asia Interviews MCZ|Daigo Umehara About EVO 2012

GameSpot Asia‘s Jonathan Toyad recently got a chance to catch up with Daigo Umehara of Team Mad Catz during his trip to Singapore to compete at South East Asia Majors 2012. Being a Road to EVO event, many of the questions cover his plans for the upcoming tournament and who he is looking out for in regards to top competition. While he switched around during his grand finals match against DM|Xian, Daigo is dedicated to sticking with his original plan to main Ryu, unless he is faced with a match-up he knows very little about, like Hakan, Oni, and Evil Ryu. According to Daigo, Ryu is the most balanced character in the game, and is the best choice for a large tournament like EVO due to his lack of bad match-ups.

He also notes that he’ll be looking out for both DM|Xian and EG|Ricky Ortiz during his trip to Las Vegas next month. And his advice to aspiring rookies? “Copy the top players.”
