ESFI World’s Interview with Justin Wong from UFGT8 Touches on His Performance, Training Regimine, and Capcom’s Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournaments

John King over at ESFI World recently posted an interview he conducted with Justin Wong this past weekend during UFGT8 in Chicago, Illinois. He sat down with him after pool play, so there’s some information on his performance thus far in the tournament as well as his thoughts before moving onto the next rounds. There’s also some discussion on his training techniques and what he thinks of the upcoming tournaments Capcom has planned for Street Fighter’s 25gh anniversary. Here’s a small excerpt to get you started, and you can read the rest over on ESFI World.

Though all of your travelling must be difficult, it also means that there are more tournaments to attend because the fighting game community is growing. What are your thoughts on that growth?

It’s growing tremendously. I just hope it doesn’t get too oversaturated because I think too many tournaments kind of wear people out. Not everyone is sponsored and obviously the people that make the community are not just the top players, it’s everyone who attends these tournaments, also. Even though they’re not top players, they’re part of the community and they’re here for the same passion and glory that the top players are here for. So shout-outs to them because without them there would be no scene, there would be no tournaments, there would be no $500,000 prize from Capcom.
